The performance Invisible Lands has been created during the spring of 2015. At the same time as we were doing artistic research, outside of our working studio things were happening in the world: the Arab spring has been followed by major scale human catastrophy, when millions of people escaped their bombed houses and lands and ventured into Europe; many of them died on their way, many more are still left today as refugees without home or hope for future. Unable to ignore what is happening outside, we decided to use the performing technique that we found to tell the story of these people, the victims of our world’s politics. “Invisible cities” has then become Invisible Lands, and an elaborate story of a refugee travel has been created. This is not Hollywood, this drama is real life, and it is happening right now, and not as far from us as we think. How to bridge the gap between the way that we see refugees, as tiny figures on a tv screen, and the physical and psychological experience that these refugees have?
